The Role

Working within our Engineering Services Division there is currently a vacancy for an experienced JTIDS Test and Trials Consultant to support the Harrier Mission computer replacement project.

The Project

Engineering Services works closely with defence and industrial customers to provide flexible, cost effective, outsourced services and solutions throughout Europe and the U.S.A. Services include project offload, integrated project management and consultancy. Specialising in high integrity software systems, backed up by highly experienced Safety and Human Factors engineers, Engineering Services has extensive capabilities in both programme and subcontract management. It currently has teams working on the Harrier I and Harrier II, Eurofighter and Nimrod MRA4 programmes together with number of commercial aircraft programmes.

The Sea Harrier is currently undergoing a Mission Computer replacement with the addition of JTIDS Link 16 capability. Activities include
OFP Development in Ada95 using Rational Rose toolset.
Host Development Environment integration tool development.
Avionics Support Database tool development.
Software safety activities
Definition of Acceptance Scenarios
System Test and Verification

Main responsibilities

Provide guidance and direction to the customer in generating the system integration and test philosophy for the JTIDS upgrade.
Provide an insight into the depth of work that is required to ensure a successful JTIDS system delivery.
Guide the customer through the problems and pitfalls that typically present themselves when integrating JTIDS.
Creation of new suite of tests for the JTIDS integration onto the test rig and aircraft
Running integration rig tests
Support flight trials
Analysis of flight data

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Essential:

JTIDS
Test & Trials 3 years minimum OR
Systems Engineering 5 years minimum
Avionics Systems

Desirable:

Air Observer Experience

EDUCATION LEVEL INDICATOR:

DEGREE: Engineering, Software Engineering, Computing, Maths or Physics degree would be desirable
